MARAWI CITY, Philippines — A Ramadan food parcel programme implemented by MyCARE Malaysia in collaboration with Philippine Humanitarian Care (PHILCARE) Inc., with support from Human Appeal Australia, reached 660 vulnerable families across communities in Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte and Marawi City.
Implemented from March 1 to 29, 2025, the programme provided essential food assistance to families in Butig, Piagapo, Marantao and Balindong in Lanao del Sur; Baloi in Lanao del Norte; and Marawi City.
The programme aimed to help underprivileged families meet essential food needs during Ramadan, with priority given to households facing economic hardship and heightened vulnerability.
Beneficiary selection considered household economic conditions, family circumstances, vulnerability factors, displacement and exposure to emergencies, as well as geographical conditions. Community referrals and verification measures were also used to support appropriate beneficiary selection and reduce duplication of assistance.
Through the collaboration, PHILCARE supported the delivery of Ramadan assistance to communities facing economic and social vulnerabilities while contributing to coordinated and accountable humanitarian action.
